KAR AUCTION SERVICES PROMOTES GARY FIELDS TO VICE PRESIDENT OF KAR IT SHARED SERVICES
CARMEL, Ind., September 29, 2016 – Carmel, Ind.-based KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR), a provider of used-vehicle auction services, announced today the promotion of Gary Fields to vice president of KAR IT Shared Services (ITSS). KAR Chief Information Officer of IT Shared Services Gary Watkins made the announcement.
In this new role, Fields will provide oversight and coordination of any enterprise-wide technology solution implementations for ITSS. He is also responsible for identifying and researching relevant emerging technologies and he will play a critical role in setting the ITSS strategic technology vision. Fields is reporting directly to Gary Watkins.
“Throughout Gary’s career at KAR, he has demonstrated a meaningful understanding of technology’s impact on the automotive remarketing industry. He has significantly contributed to our continued evolution,” said Watkins.
Fields joined the KAR group of companies in 2003 as part of Automotive Finance Corporation’s (AFC) IT department. Since then, he’s held a variety of leadership positions in application development, infrastructure, IT operations and IT architecture. In his most recent post as director of ITSS, Fields provided leadership for the enterprise architecture program, while at the same time working on a number of special initiatives.
Prior to joining KAR, Fields worked for MindGent, Capstone Technologies and Thomson Consumer Electronics. He received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and his master’s degree from Indiana University.
