KAR Global’s Mesa Office Donates Bikes to Local Military and Families in Need

The employees at the Mesa, Arizona, office of KAR Global collected bicycles for the children of military families at Luke Air Force Base and of local families in need through the Maag Toy Foundation. Now in its sixth year, the “My First Wheels” bicycle drive aims to provide 300 bikes to kids this holiday season.

The drive accepts donations of new and lightly used bicycles, as well as cash donations to buy more bikes. Employees spent Tuesday, December 10, 2019, cleaning and refurbishing used bikes and assembling new ones, starting at 9 a.m.

FOX 10 Arizona Morning Show covered the event on its newscast and interviewed David Gonzalez, OPENLANE sales director and KAR Global’s 2019 Jefferson Awards recipient.

In its first year, the “My First Wheels” bicycle drive collected 43 bicycles to refurbish and donate to children at nearby Luke AFB. The program has grown dramatically year after year. Since its launch, more than 1,100 Luke AFB children have received bikes. This year, the program will expand to benefit families in need in the local area.
