Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with Jihang Sun, Enterprise Quality Assurance Consultant
Jihang has been at OPENLANE for over 9 years. In that time, she has helped get some of our largest products off the ground. Read more about her adventure below.
What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?
I joined in 2008 as a QA engineer and at the time, OPENLANE was a startup. I took a career break in 2010 but hit the ground running again in 2014 and have been part of the QA organization ever since.
What is something you are most proud of during your time at OPENLANE?
I’ve had many opportunities to play a QA role in some large software initiatives. One of them related to replatforming our Simulcast solution – it was a very complex project involving integration between different departments and companies. So, I was very proud to be a part of that.
What do you like the most about working at OPENLANE?
I enjoy the trust and the support from the QA team and the project managers. I’ve been working remotely since 2014 because I’m based in a location without a corporate office. At the time, working from home wasn’t very common but my team trusted me to produce high-quality work. So, I actively strive to maintain that trust; it keeps me motivated and engaged.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever gotten?
Keep notes. This is a piece of advice my father gave me when I started my first job. Over time, notes will become a handy personalized guidebook for our daily work. We can easily refer to them as needed.
What’s a song you can’t stop listening to?
Nocturnes by Chopin and Maurizio Polini. The music is very relaxing and soothing to me.
