Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with Arden Cris Manlapaz, Inside Sales Representative at BacklotCars

To celebrate and close out Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we’re thrilled to share Arden Cris Manlapaz’s OPENLANE journey.

What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?

I joined the company in 2019 as an Inside Sales Representative to explore my passion for cars and customer service. Throughout my role, my passion for sales continued to grow and inspired me to work harder, which led me to be recognized as the Employee of the Year in 2021 by my business unit.

What is something you are most proud of during your time here?

Constantly sharing the knowledge I’ve gained in my experience and always encouraging others to aim for excellence.

What is some of the best career advice you’ve ever heard?

Be yourself, give everything to your task, show your leaders you have enthusiasm for what you’re doing, and never stop learning.

What’s your favorite part about our culture?

The teamwork. For me, success at a company is about the relationships you build and how well you work in a team. It all builds your leadership skills and our culture encourages collaboration. I love it.

Why do you think it’s so important to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month?

It’s critical to acknowledge the accomplishments of Pacific Islanders and Asian Americans and the significant part these groups have played in forming American culture. I support cultural variety because it can benefit society by exposing people to various viewpoints, attitudes, beliefs, and lifestyles. All of this can foster a stronger capacity for empathy, admiration, and respect for others.
