Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with Brooke Cassidy, Training Manager at AFC
Brooke Cassidy just celebrated her 7th anniversary with OPENLANE. Learn about her favorite parts of both AFC and OPENLANE, training and more.
What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?
I celebrated my seventh anniversary at OPENLANE in September and I’ve enjoyed every minute of my experience here. I’m blessed to work with the most amazing team in the AFC business unit as a Training Manager within the AFC Training and Branch Services department, but I’ve also had the opportunity to work directly with many talented people across OPENLANE. I came to this role with no experience in the automotive industry and I’ve learned so much! I’ve really enjoyed building the relationships that have come out of working on various projects and initiatives.
What do you like the most about working at OPENLANE?
The people. Hands down. We are a family and I absolutely love the environment. We truly live out our values every day and even though we have employees across the globe, we are a tight knit group!
What’s a piece of advice for newcomers to the company?
Never stop learning! (Spoken like a true trainer, right?!)
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and bring your ideas to the table. Learn from every experience, positive or negative. Take those negatives and assess how, if faced with a similar situation in the future, you may handle it differently. There are so many phenomenal people and resources at this company that can help you learn and grow more than you thought possible.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever heard?
“Venture outside your comfort zone.”
I try to continually push myself to learn new things and be a part of new experiences. It’s not always easy, but I think Doc Brown from the movie Back to the Future says it best, “If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything!”
