Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with John Hamilton, Sr. Regional Operations Manager at BacklotCars

From Marketing Sales Coordinator to Senior Manager of Regional Operations, learn John Hamilton’s favorite parts about OPENLANE and BacklotCars, the waybuilder value he relates to most and more.

What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?

I interviewed for a position at OPENLANE in 2017. I later was hired as a Marketing Sales Coordinator but am now a Senior Regional Operations Manager.

What is something you are most proud of during your time here?

The partnerships and relationships that I’ve established. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many people across different departments around the country. This has allowed me to form bonds with Waybuilders all across the company.

What do you like most about working at OPENLANE?

The  people! I love the team that I work with and our culture is phenomenal. The company as a whole is transforming an industry that has been around for decades. We get to introduce a new way of doing business, which I love.

Speaking of culture, what is your favorite part about ours?

Although the company has major goals, they don’t lose sight of their employees. They make sure that the employees have a great work-life balance.

Which of our company values resonates most with you?

I see myself as a Driven Waybuilder. I love what we are doing in my department. We are innovating, designing new apps and taking calculated risks to try to create something new. I mean, you can’t have a homerun if you don’t swing, right?

What is the last show/movie you binged?

“Hijack” on AppleTV with Idris Elba. He’s an amazing actor and I have a passion for flying. Soon I want to try to get my private pilot license. Overall, I love the action and the cast.
