Life at OPENLANE: Q&A with Stephanie Daly, Talent Acquisition Partner

Stephanie Daly, Talent Acquisition Partner at OPENLANE, enjoys helping to find the best and brightest talent. Learn more about the skills she’s acquired and her achievements during her time at OPENLANE.

What has your journey at OPENLANE looked like?

I first joined OPENLANE in November 2021 as a Human Resources Business Partner for the Calgary vehicle logistics centre (VLC) until I had the opportunity to become the HR Manager for Calgary. During my time in the HR Manager position, I provided HR support to both employees and the leadership team in all aspects of HR while helping to foster a welcoming and inclusive working environment. I also assisted with our Kitchener and Windsor VLCS for HR support. Towards the end of 2024, I transitioned to the Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment across the 14 VLCs in Canada. I have been enjoying my new role helping to find and hire the brightest and best talent for OPENLANE!

What is something you are most proud of during your time with OPENLANE?

I am most proud of the relationships I have built. When I first joined, I felt like the new kid on the block, as one typically does, but over the past 3.5 years, I have worked hard to build relationships across the organization within different VLCs and HR teams and through employee resource groups, like Women@OPENLANE. I have built some truly great relationships during my time at OPENLANE and I am very proud of that.

What do you like the most about working at OPENLANE?

The amazing people I get to work with every day, whether that be leaders across the organization, co-workers within the HR Squad, or employees I have helped along the way. We have some really great people who work for the organization and that is what I enjoy most about working at OPENLANE.

What’s a piece of advice for newcomers to the company?

My advice to newcomers would be to take your time to understand the company as there are many intricate parts that make up OPENLANE. This will help you to understand how your role and business unit contribute to the overall success of the company. Also, a quote from Michael John Bobak that was mentioned to me when I first started in HR, “All progress takes place outside of the comfort zone.” There are always great opportunities to develop and grow within OPENLANE so do not let your comfort zone hold you back in the future!

Tell us about the work that Women@OPENLANE does and the importance of this group to you.

The Women@OPENLANE employee resource group provides a safe space for dialogue and reflection on the issues women have faced and encourages people to think critically about gender roles and inequalities. It helps to promote gender equality within OPENLANE to break traditional gender roles and stereotypes so that women can reach their full potential. I am personally very grateful for the brave women who took a stand and fought hard for the rights we have today. We celebrated Women’s History Month in March, and while I’m grateful for the dedicated month, it is important to me that we continue to work daily towards and advocate for a world where women are treated equally.
